5.6.2 Preservation of Evidence
This sub domain follows very closely
to the previous domain, 5.6.1 Chain of Custody. For detailed guidelines
follow the footnote to Army Regulation 195.5, Evidence Procedures456.
Preserving evidence in a legally
defensible manner requires that:
- The handling, labeling and storage of evidence
are critical.
- Everything must be 'bagged and tagged'
- Everything must be stored in an evidence
room that has:
- Low traffic
- Restricted Access
- Camera monitoring with the output captured on
long play video recorders.
- Sign In & Sign Out for chain of custody
