5.2 Disaster Recovery
This topic within security is extremely
broad; the full scope involves many departments within a large firm.
For the purposes of the Information Technology department, five areas
should be addressed. They are:
- A “battle plan”
- Hot sites
- Backup
- Vital records
- Planning
Justifying the cost of disaster recovery
can quickly be ascertained by:
- How much revenue is lost for each minute of downtime?
- How many dollars in salaries are being lost per
minute due to lack of system availability?
Do the math, and be prepared for
a scary surprise.
