5.2.1 Backups
Backups are archival copies of files,
electronic and otherwise. A keystone in disaster planning is, have
recent backups, and keep them off site. Smaller sites can
do this by utilizing a key person taking backups home. This action step
should be firmly planted in your thought process as a job. This opening
statement is covered directly in the next sub-domain. For this sub-domain,
the only time I havent seen a test for knowledge on particular
topics of backups was the first A+ core hardware test (when you had
the option of the second test being Windows 3.x or Macintosh). Every
other test, from Network+, i-Net+, Server+, etc. has made sure you knew
about backups. So it should not be any surprise if you see them in Security+.
If this is just a review for you, great, otherwise, pay very close attention.
Permissions & Security for Backups
Encrypting backups makes life more difficult for someone who walked away with your data |
All of the files we create everyday
need to be managed. Part of that management includes backing up (saving)
our files. There are different types of backups and methods.
