VII Wide Area Networking Technologies
Companies have been interested in
connecting far-flung offices together into wide area networks, or internetworks,
as long as there have been networks. As a result, there are wide area
networking technologies still in use today which look downright slow
compared to presently-available consumer technologies, and other newer
wide area networking technologies with transmission speeds eclipsing
those found in most LAN’s.
For Network+, you are expected to
have an overview level of knowledge of these different technologies,
so let’s look at each of them, roughly in order of increasing performance.
