Remote Access Dial-up Line Alternatives
Since their connection only needs
to support one user (or worst case, a handful of users), these connections
only need to be but so fast. Higher-bandwidth, more expensive, solutions
are usually left for corporate projects involving the connection of
servers or groups of remote users over high-speed links.
Traditionally, the main low-speed
dial-up remote access options available to end users are:
- POTS (dial-in via traditional phone service)
- ISDN (a slightly faster alternative to
POTS)
