POP3
POP3 (Post Office Protocol
Version 3) is the popular mail server protocol that accepts
(receives) e-mail from a mail server. On some
servers, IMAP4 (Internet Mail Access Protocol Version 4)
is replacing POP3. Client-side programs such as Eudora
and Microsoft Outlook can be used to receive email via POP3
or IMAP4. Some examples of POP3 server programs include Microsoft
Exchange (on NT or Windows 2000) and sendmail (often seen
on UNIX machines).
POP3
Know that POP3 and IMAP4 are for mail handling. POP3 uses port 110. |
