Local Area Network (LAN) (Page 1 of 2) The Local Area Network can be a group of computers and other devices in a limited geographical area (say the size of an office building), functioning by itself or connected to another LAN.
If you are working as a support tech for a small business or a department within a larger company, it is likely that most of your network support activities will involve the companys LAN. Its probably the most common network environment for technicians, and this is reflected by the amount of LAN-oriented knowledge and skills tested by the Network+ exam.
