Baseline of the initial configuration.

Everything has been checked and recorded for proper operation and configuration.

Have all installation disks, including service packs, drivers, etc. available.

Make sure that all EEPROMs are updated.

Read all instructions, including READ.ME files, and check the web site for last minute notations.

A recovery plan should the install fail to go as planned.
