Staging

Before actually installing the network, unpack all components and setup to test in a staging area. This is where you find out if everything is working before you attempt to go online with the new equipment.

As part of this process, be sure to document all serial numbers, IP addresses if TCP/IP will be used. Seriously consider load testing the equipment.

Simulation Software

You can load test or stress test the equipment with benchmarking software. Ziff-Davis and other publishers have excellent load simulators.

[spacer]Fewer Headaches

If you have steps you can take prior to the complete rollover, and then do it. This minimizes the time constraints of the complete rollover.

Someday…

As with many certification tests, the
NETWORK+ test has some basis in fantasy, when compared to the ‘real world’. In the ideal world, a procedure list would be written out, and followed, even by the most experienced engineer. What follows is a list of what would be on the fantasy checklist. Consider this logic flow valid test questions.
