II Anatomy of a NOS
Regardless of the NOS choice,
all offer basic file and print services to one or more
users, as well as some sort of directory services, to
find users and resources.
As the NOS offers additionally
advanced features, such as application server, also SQL database
application or proxy server services. These can be software
based “server services” residing on a single machine or machines
dedicated to running the service application software.
