Class B
The next range to know is
the Class B range. The first two bits are 10
and the default subnet mask is 255.255.0.0. Since the
convention requires that the first bit be set to
1 and the second bit to 0, the binary
math forces an address range of 128.0.n.n to 191.255.n.n.
This moving to the right grants more unique
network addresses, but at the expense of fewer clients
on the network. The private class B network address range, for
use within your organization but not for direct connection to the Internet,
is 172.16.0.0 172.31.255.255.
Class B
Expect to be tested on the Class B address range of 128.0.n.n to 191.254.0.0. Hosts can range from n.n.0.1 to n.n.255.254. |
