802.4 Token Bus Network
This group defined the broadband
token passing scheme. Very popular in the 1980’s under the ArcNet
name. ArcNet fell out of favor due to its low throughput. The standard
was eventually upgraded to a faster speed. However by that time, Ethernet
had won the race in installed base that is the number of sites
at which the Ethernet technology was in use.
