Using Drive Converter (FAT32) (Page 1 of 2) Drive Converter converts your drive to the FAT32 file system, an enhancement of the File Allocation Table (FAT or FAT16) file system format. As noted previously, when your drive is in this format, it stores data more efficiently. If youre currently using FAT 16, youll probably find that you create up to several hundred MB of extra disk space on the drive by converting to FAT 32. The bonus is that programs load faster and your computer uses fewer system resources. Start Drive Converter by clicking Start, point to Programs, point to Accessories, point to System Tools, and then clicking Drive Converter, as shown in Figure 97.
You will then see the startup screen for Drive Converter.
In this case, the drive in this machine is already FAT32, so no conversion can be done.
