Displaying the Task Bar

To permanently display the task bar:

  1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Taskbar & Start Menu.

  2. Click to clear the Auto hide check box.

Note: You can also open the Taskbar Properties dialog box by right-clicking a blank area on the taskbar, and then clicking Properties.

To move the taskbar, simply click and drag the taskbar to a different location, at the top, or the left or right side of the screen. Drag while holding the mouse button down.

Notice that in the Windows help information shown above, the word taskbar is underlined. This means you can click on that word for more information. This information is found in the help file in Windows.

The taskbar can also be used to switch between tasks (programs). To do so, click the program button on the task bar.

The help menu in Windows will assist you in remembering how to use the taskbar.
