The Recycle Bin

Recycle Bin Menu

If we right click on the Recycle Bin we have a sub-menu that appears. The menu is as shown in Figure 32.

Figure 32: The Recycle bin submenu

These are the items on the menu:

  • Open (this menu opens the bin)

  • Explore (this option allows viewing of the bin contents)

  • Empty Recycle Bin (this option empties the contents)(not an option if empty)

  • Paste (this option lets us drop in a copy of information)

  • Create Shortcut (this creates a shortcut to the Recycle Bin)

  • Properties (this option allows us customization of bin properties)

Be sure and set the properties to a size large enough to hold most files or oversize files will be auto deleted. The bin needs to be regularly emptied. If the bin is too full once again auto delete will take place and you will not have the option to recover files.

[spacer]Recycle Bin Caution!

Know that changing the size of the recycle bin can save you in the event of an accidental file deletion. If the programs, files or folders are too large for the bin they will be automatically deleted and irretrievable. Increase the size of the recycle bin to allow it to hold more, larger files.
