The Archive Attribute
As with the use of the Archive bit
in Windows, the A (archive bit) for a file is on (+) and
remains so until either it is manually changed with the ATTRIB
command or the file is backed up with either a
full back up or an incremental backup. At this
point the archive bit is off (-) until the file is changed
or manually reset with the ATTRIB command.
