Saving a File with a Different Name or Format On the File menu of the program you are working in, click Save As. Specify (type in) (or scroll to view the file extension options) the name and or format in which you want to save the file. If the file was previously saved with a different name or format, that version will remain unchanged.
When working with graphics we can change the type of file (format) for instance from a bitmap (.BMP) to a JPEG (.JPG) and still view the picture. The properties of the file also change in this instance.
All files have some sort of format to identify the program they are associated with. These file formats are better understood by learning more about file naming conventions (methods).
