Overcoming Challenges
Throughout this chapter you have
seen a variety of issues that can come up, and how to address them.
When discussing Cmd.exe to grant superior CDI access,
it was mentioned that some things that are GUI based in
Windows 9x are CDI based in NT.
This is a point that easily trips
up technicians who are used to Windows 9x. Lets look at checking
a PCs IP address. In Windows 9x, a GUI based utility called WinIPCFG
is used. Not so with NT/W2K. They use the CDI based IPCONFIG.
To start IPCONFIG go to the
Command Prompt and type in IPCONFIG. The screen of Figure 160
will appear.

IPCONFIG
IPCONFIG is CDI (text based), used by NT/W2K and is not WinIPCfg. |
