Network Topology Each network regardless of size has a schematic. This network design or layout is known as the topology. The equipment in use and the desired form of communication determines the network topology. Factors such as what the network users will require assist in determining how the network will be laid out, simply put the purpose of the network has high impact on the design. The factors involved will include, desired speed, file transfer and storage needs, size of the layout and number of users involved.
