Mouse Control Chart

The mouse control chart will help you with some of the keys you can press on the keyboard along with a mouse click for faster navigation. Be aware that in newer versions of Windows, the user can select whether the mouse requires a double-click to open documents (as in “classic Windows”), or will open documents on a single-click (a newer option, designed to save on mouse button-clicking). By default, the mouse will usually be set to “classic Windows” double-click behavior. If you wish to change it to single-click behavior (which will frustrate all visitors to your PC, since the single-click option is not commonly used!), the mouse properties page lets you do that. Look for options like “Single-click to open an item (point to select)” and “Double-click to open an item (single-click to select)”.

Figure 10: Make a note of how your mouse is set up.
