Identifying the Files
CONFIG.SYS is called at bootup by
IO.SYS
IO.SYS goes to the BIOS at boot.
Changes in CONFIG.SYS
require a re-boot.
Boot Order (2-5-6-7-8 Characters)
The boot order of DOS is: IO.SYS, MSDOS.SYS, CONFIG.SYS, COMMAND.COM, AUTOEXEC.BAT. The 2-5678 order represents the number of characters in each filename, so if you can remember the five filenames, you can also correctly put them in the right boot order. |
