Explorer (Page 3 of 4) The View Menu and Folder Options Notice that there is a menu at the top of the screen, where we can change the view of the files. This changes what is displayed in the Explorer. Open the View menu and then choose Folder Options from the submenu that appears. In the Folder Options window, click on the View tab and then click Show all files, which is an option under the Files and Folders, Hidden files section.
When we choose to view all files, then all files associated with whatever we clicked on, will appear in the right pane (portion) of the window. Without this option selected, only SOME files will appear. Windows will not show operating system files and other special files in Explorer, unless you have selected this option. You might think, Why do I need to see all the operating system files? I didnt create them, so why do I care?. The answer is that this is very handy when troubleshooting system problems.
