Drive Space 3

To configure DriveSpace 3 to compress files as you save them:

  • Start DriveSpace 3: click Start, point to Programs, point to Accessories, point to System Tools, and then click DriveSpace 3.

  • Start DriveSpace 3.

  • On the Advanced menu, click Settings.

  • Click Standard compression.

Standard Compression provides compression without (much) loss of speed.

[spacer]DriveSpace is a Program

To use a compressed DriveSpace 3 drive on another computer, DriveSpace 3 must be installed on it.

Compression Agent Needs DS3

You can use Compression Agent to compress files only on drives compressed using DriveSpace 3. However, if you are low on hard disk space and have a fast processor, use HI Pack compression.

Prices to Pay

HI Pack provides more compression, fast reading but slower writing to the drive.

Hence, the need for a faster processor. This method compresses files to approximately half the original size.
