Client/Server
The term client/server
is used in larger environments. The concept of name/password/permissions
is the same, however this list is stored on a single computer.
The advantage of this model beyond
the fact that it can support a larger number of users is finer control
of security. The down side is, that this model requires
a separate computer and software (such as Netware,
NT/W2K Server).
