CDI vs. GUI Interface The Operating System also provides the user interface that you use to communicate with the Operating System. For example, you install and configure the Operating System, troubleshoot it if things go wrong (of course, that wouldn't ever happen to you, would it?), identify yourself to the system (log in), start programs and switch between multiple programs The user interface simply put it what the Operating System looks like to you, on the computer screen. There are two primary types of computer user interfaces:
