Adapters An adapter is the network card (NIC). The NIC (network interface card) has a number of properties. Simply put, you must configure the card to talk after installing the card physically. The settings and the information used for configuration are dependant on the communication method chosen for the network. Typical settings for most network adapter cards (NIC) are shown in Figure 161 and Figure 162.
