Slot A
AMD could move into Slot 1
with Intel garnering legal protection for its Slot 1. So they changed
the pin array and came out with Slot A. This was used for
the original Athlon. From a visual inspection, Slot
A and Slot 1 look virtually identical.
Hello, Goodbye Slot A
The original Athlon and Slot A has gone the way of the dodo bird. While still available out on the street, they are going away. Socket 462 has been the standard since right after the A+ 2001 test was written. |
