Frontside / Backside Bus The main goal of the Front side Bus is to communicate between the CPU and the main memory. This bus generally runs at much faster speeds than other buses in the PC. The exception to the rule is the Backside Bus. This is a route between the CPU and a special type of RAM discussed shortly. Other bus routes include the expansion bus. Remember the S-100 bus in Chapter 0000? Expansion buses are a topic in and of itself, and will be visited near the end of this chapter.
