touch - Change File Time Stamps

So far we have talked about listing files and changing directories but nothing about creating them. The touch command serves two very useful purposes. The general form is:

touch [options] file

This command updates the last modified or last accessed time of a file, if the file exists or it will create an empty file if it did not exist.
