df - Report Filesystem Disk Space Usage
The df command will show the disk space usage for all mounted file systems. An example:
Filesystem 1k-blocks Used Available Use% Mounted on
/dev/hda8 13511008 10442012 2382672 82% /
/dev/sdc6 8830152 4648620 3732984 56% /mnt/hd
Shows that the file system /dev/hda8 mounted at / (the root file system ) has a little over 2.3 GB of free disk space and the file system /dev/sdc6 mounted at /mnt/hd has about 3.7 GB of free disk space. The system administrator should use this command periodically to insure that there is sufficient free disk space for proper functioning of the system.
