The Ver Command
To retrieve the current version
of the command interpreter in use, type the VER command.

VER has no parameters,
and its only purpose is to display the current version. Whilst this
may not appear that useful at first glance, back in the DOS only days
it was the only way to know which version of DOS was currently running
(and therefore, the commands available to you).
