The Three Finger Salute
In addition to the accelerator keys
discussed previously, the most famous key combination is undoubtedly
the Ctrl (Control) key, the Alt (Alternate) key and the Del (Delete)
key, affectionately known as the Three Finger Salute. It
initiates different processes: Outside of Windows, this key sequence
is used to soft reset a machine when a process or task has caused the
machine to hang. Within Windows NT, 2000 and XP, its the key
combination used to initiate the logon procedure and the Windows Security
dialog box. Be careful using this combination within Windows 95 or
98, as you are likely to cause your machine to reboot!
