Resource Sharing
The main purpose of a network is
to share information. Knowing how to share and when to protect information
is the key to successfully managing files in a network environment.
There is a clear distinction between
the server and desktop versions of Microsoft operating systems where
sharing is concerned. Whilst the server editions allow an unlimited
number of connections to shared resources (dependant on licenses of
course), desktop versions allow a maximum of 10 simultaneous connections.
Bear this in mind when selecting an operating system!
