Registry Tools - RegEdt32.EXE RegEdit32 -- the command is actually abbreviated RegEdt32.EXE so it complies with 8.3 naming conventions -- is the other Registry tool available to system administrators. It accesses and displays exactly the same Registry (there is only one!) as RegEdit, so why have Microsoft provided us with two tools that do the same job? A good question. Although RegEdit and RegEdit32 access the registry and can perform the same tasks, there are a number of important differences between the tools (aside from the different method of display):
