Real World Scenario: How Might a Black Screen Error Happen?
Most common source of the problem
is trying to dual boot, have more then one OS on the same hard disk.
NT family of Windows has a boot menu that makes easy to make dual boot
installations. If you want to make it easy, always install an older
version of OS first, also if they are both NT.
If some software installation caused
this problem in order to prevent the problem in future you need to know
which one it was. Never install any program in a root directory! Before
the installation program copies the files, to the target directory it
empties the target directory and root can have the files your Windows
needs. Besides, that a careless user can delete crucial system files,
some malicious program such as a virus can delete those files.
