Printer Sharing Sharing a local printer is much the same process. Go to Control Panel Printers folder, and pick the printer you would like to share. Right click it, and select Sharing. The dialog in Figure 459 will appear.
To share the printer, simply click the Shared As radio button and enter a name for the printer216. To set which users are allowed to print and administer the shared printer, click the Security tab. The following dialog appears.
The permissions are self-explanatory, simply use the Add button to add user accounts to the list and assign them the permissions required. To connect to a shared printer, first browse to the machine that is sharing it either via Network Neighborhood, or by typing \\MachineName at the Start Run prompt. When you have located the shared printer you wish to use, simply right click it and select Connect. Windows 2000 transparently downloads the drivers and installs the printer for you, ready for use! __________________ 216.
