One logs into Linux System that is running in text or command line mode by simply typing their userid at the login prompt, pressing the enter key and typing their password at the password prompt and again pressing return. If this information was correctly entered and accurately, they have an account on the system, they will then see a greeting and the command line prompt.
Logout of a system is equally easy. Simply type either exit or logout at the command line prompt and press enter and the system will log the user out.
