Installing to the Same Partition as OS 9 Now that you are looking at the installation screen, double-click the Install Mac OS X icon. The first screen will ask you to select the language for installation. Please, make sure you pick the right one. Installing in French will take more time! Next, you come to the welcome screen, which is just a quick Hello to get ready for the installation. Read over it and click the Continue button. Next, you get the Important Information screen. This is a ReadMe file, which is definitely good to look at. After reading this over, click Continue, or Go Back if you need to move back through the installation screens. The Software License Agreement will be next. It is standard stuff, and once you click Continue a screen will drop down asking if you accept the terms of the license. You must accept it, unless you want to quit the installation at this point. Now you come to the screen where you get to select the destination disk. This screen will not only display all destination drives, even those that are unavailable due to size or firmware shortcomings, but it will also recommend a drive. To install on the same partition where OS 9 is located, simply choose that drive by clicking on it, which will highlight it. You can also choose to reformat the drive, but this will erase all existing data, including OS 9, so this is not recommended since you will be unable to run any Classic applications without 9.1 or 9.2 installed. Once you have selected the drive and clicked Continue, the installation will proceed and will restart the computer once complete. Go get a cup of coffee this does take a while.
