Installing to a Different Partition than OS 9 If you want to install on a different partition, you can do it a few different ways. First, if you do not already have the drive partitioned, you can do it by first running Drive Setup in OS 9 and selecting partition location, name and size.Next, Double-click the Utilities folder from the disk icons and run Drive Setup from there and partitioning. If you already have the drive partitioned to your liking, then once you are presented with the screen to select a Destination Drive, you just choose the partition where you want OS X. From here, you can also choose to format the drive. If you do decide to format, you will be presented with three different format options: HFS, HFS+ and UFS (UNIX). It is smart to select the default file system; Mac OS X Extended a.k.a. HFS+, for the best compatibility. Once the Installer is running, at the beginning, select Open Disk Utility from the Installer drop down menu, and use it to partition
