How to Create a Shortcut (Page 2 of 2) A Simpler Way A simpler way to create shortcuts is by dragging and dropping an object using the right mouse button. Dragging and dropping is covered shortly, but as a practical exercise, open My Computer and double click the C drive. Position the cursor over the Program Files folder, press and hold the right mouse button (be careful to use the right mouse button, not the left when doing this or you could cause serious damage to Windows!), then move the cursor to an empty space on the desktop. Release the right mouse button, and the menu in Figure 32 is displayed.
Select the Create Shortcut Here option to create a shortcut to the Program Files folder on the desktop.
