FSUtil

This command line utility is used to conduct a variety of FAT or NTFS file system tasks. Examples of tasks that can be performed are managing reparse points, managing sparse files, dismounting a volume or extending a volume. Typing “fsutil /?”52 will result in a message telling you that “/?” is an invalid parameter but will also result in providing a list of supported commands as seen in Figure 279.

The fsutil command is extremely powerful and should only be used by advanced users, highly experienced with Windows XP. Since the details of the fsutil command are beyond the scope of the A+ exam, I will not go beyond this point in explaining its structure and utility.
