Control Panel Categories In the main area of the screen, you see the nine major categories that you can select from:
As you can tell, the category view main page presents the classic control panel options in categories that are more intuitively understandable to a wider user population. Remember, Windows XP has been designed to combine the user friendliness of the Windows 9x operating systems and the stability of Windows NT technology that is incorporated into the Windows 2000 and Windows XP operating systems. With that in mind, the category view is the control panel user interface that has a greater ease of use than the traditional or classic control panel look. In addition, as you select from the nine major categories, youll notice that you can choose from two main options; Pick a task and or pick a Control Panel icon. The first offers you a method of altering computer configurations by task description and the second provides the option to choose a classic Control Panel icon for users more comfortable with that format.
