Adding Permissions To assign permissions to an object, click the Add button. The familiar user and group selection dialog appears. Select the users and groups you wish to assign permissions to by double clicking them, then dismiss the dialog by clicking OK. In Figure 151, the Administrator of the local machine has been added.
Because permissions for the Administrator user have been directly assigned to this object, the permissions check boxes are not grayed out and can be modified. By default, users are granted the Read and Read and Execute permissions when first added to the access control list of an object. To assign basic permissions to the Administrator user, simply check the appropriate boxes.
