Add/Remove Programs The Add/Remove Programs applet allows you to configure, install or remove applications from your system, as well as adding or removing components of the operating system.
The visual appearance of this applet is very different, with Windows 95, 98 and NT looking more primitive compared to Windows 2000 and XP. The screenshot in Figure 82 is from Windows 2000.
Clicking on an entry displays some information on usage and available options.
To add or remove Windows components, click the Add/Remove Windows Components button in the left navigation panel. Figure 84 appears.
If a Windows tool or option is missing (for example, IIS), or if you want to remove items that are unused and taking up disk space, this is the safe place to do it.
