Active Termination Active terminators control the impedance at the end of the bus by using a voltage regulator rather than relying on power supplied by the host adapter or device. This type of termination supports longer cable lengths and faster data transfer rates than passive termination. Active termination provides better immunity to fluctuations in TERMPWR. Reflections are minimized by closely matching the characteristic impedance of the cable thereby increasing the signal-to-noise ratio.
